Meta under fire for scraping Australian data for AI development without opt-out option

Meta is under fire due to its controversial data practices related to its generative AI chatbot launched in 2023. Despite claiming not to use private messages for training, Meta admitted to scraping data from all public Facebook accounts, including those of underage users, while denying Australian users the option to opt out.
