ASD's Annual Cyber Threat Report 2024–2025

The Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre (ASD’s ACSC) has released its Annual Cyber Threat Report (ACTR) 2024–25.
The report details the latest cyber threats affecting Australian businesses, how the Directorate and the ACSC are responding, and current advice on specific cyber threats.
The threat environment and data in this year’s report demonstrates there are things all Australians must do to avoid becoming the next victim.
Key findings within the report include:
The threat from cybercrime continues to challenge Australia’s economic and social prosperity.
State-sponsored cyber actors continue to target Australian businesses and organisations to support political, economic and military objectives.
In 2024–25, over 87,400 cybercrime reports were submitted to ASD – a 3% decrease compared to the previous financial year. This is an average of one report every 6 minutes, which is consistent with last year.
The average cost of cybercrime to businesses was $80,850 – a 50% increase compared to the previous financial.
The top 3 cybercrimes reported by businesses were email compromise resulting in no financial loss (19%), business email compromise fraud resulting in financial loss (15%) and identity fraud (11%).
