Enhanced visibility and hardening guidance for communications infrastructure


Australian, Canadian, NZ, and US agencies warn that People’s Republic of China (PRC)-affiliated threat actors compromised networks of major global telecommunications providers to conduct a broad and significant cyber espionage campaign.



 

Google ads linking UNRWA with Hamas appear on Australian news websites as part of a global campaign


Advertisements linking the funding of UNRWA to Hamas have run alongside news content on Australian digital news websites. The ads appear to be linked to the Israeli government on Google's ad manager platform, and direct to an Israeli government website.



 

Home Affairs eyes whole-of-government zero trust


The DHA outlines the foundations of its whole-of-government zero-trust commitment, as originally planned in the 2023-2023 Cyber Security Strategy. The department laid out guiding principles for the uplift of current policies to ensure all departments and stakeholders are on the same page.



 

US authorities admit they don’t know when telcos will be free of Chinese interference


The admission follows guidance from the US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and the Australian Cyber Security Centre on hardening networks against Chinese hackers and using encrypted messaging applications to avoid their communications being intercepted.



 

Scam alert: Online shopping scams


Scammers are targeting online shoppers with Christmas shopping and Boxing Day sales. Criminals create fake websites to look like well-known brands, pretending to sell products at unusually low prices and may write fake reviews to make the website look legitimate.
