Australian parliament passes Scams Prevention Framework


The Australian government has passed the Scams Prevention Framework into legislation, a set of laws aimed at protecting Australians from costly scams and the cyber-criminals behind them.



Australia suffered a cyber attack every second in 2024, 47m data breaches


Australia has secured the number 11 spot in the race of nations most affected by cyber attacks, after it suffered 47 million data breaches in 2024.

State-linked disinformation campaigns are misrepresenting Quad initiative and exploiting internal differences among members, eroding public trust in the Quad and heightening geopolitical tensions.



Fears over terror link as missing ADF rocket launchers offered in underworld trade


Several high-powered military grade rocket launchers, stolen from a military base, have never been recovered and have remained at large for decades, A legal source telling the ABC the weapons are in the possession of organised crime networks with links to convicted terrorists.



Further cyber sanctions in response to Medibank Private cyberattack


The Government has imposed additional cyber sanctions in response to the 2022 Medibank attack, making it a criminal offence to provide assets to ZServers or the five sanctioned individuals, or to use or deal with their assets, with penalties of up to 10 years’ imprisonment.
